Ryuta Gama (Studio)

Located just outside Karatsu
(10 minutes by taxi).

It's really hard to compare gamas from one to another. They all have their strong points whether traditional or contemporary. Ryuta gama is a mixture of both. It's also one of the oldest gama in the area.

Sensei Ryuta is open to new ideas while maintaining the studio's traditional values. While other gamas are strictly traditional, Ryuta experiments and uses various types of kiln - electric, gas and wood climbing kiln. He understands and respect tradition but, also embrace self expression in individuals. He currently have one deishi (apprentice).

The potteries are exquisite and high in quality. Every piece are unique and seem to naturally evolve from traditional to modern pottery.
